Credit evaluation

[student stydying in library]Pierce College recognizes academic credits earned at other regionally accredited colleges and universities, if those credits are equivalent to course work offered at Pierce.

If you have credits to transfer to Pierce, follow these steps:

  1. Apply for admission at Pierce College.
  2. Request official transcripts from your former school(s). Transcripts should be sent to the admissions office at Fort Steilacoom or the evaluations office at Puyallup.
  3. Call the admissions office at Fort Steilacoom or the evaluations office at Puyallup to make sure that your transcript has arrived.
  4. Meet with an advisor and register for courses.
  5. Complete a “Request for Credit Evaluation of Course Work From Other Institutions” and return it to the evaluations office.
  6. The evaluations office will evaluate your credits and mail the results to you.

Acceptable formats for official transcripts

Transcripts should be mailed from the previous school directly to the college you have applied to attend. We will accept hand-carried transcripts only if they are sealed in official letterhead envelopes from the issuing institution. Copied or faxed transcripts cannot be accepted as official.

Students at military sites

Students attending military sites should check with the appropriate site for their evaluation procedure.

The "Policy on Inter-College Transfer and Articulation Among Washington Public Colleges and Universities" provides policies regarding the rights and responsibilities of students and the review and appeal process in transfer credit disputes.
