It has been my good fortune to spend the better part of the past 25 years making a living as a graphic designer. I originally went into this field because I didn't want to be another starving artist. I thought the opportunities for a creative career were best in design - and I still do. I continue to enjoy the challenges, creativity and responsibility that the job demands. Like many of my students, I started my career at a community college, transferring to the University of Washington where I earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts (B. F. A.) in Graphic Design. I worked as a freelance designer, associate producer of a dinner theatre, studio sound technician and photographer before starting here at the college. For many years I maintained a freelance business with clients as diverse as the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and a Nigerian packaging company. I'm fairly new as a teacher. I have only been teaching the Graphic Design 130 class for the past few years, though I have also taught classes for Continuing Education, seminars and various credit classes in the past. I have enjoyed the interaction with students and the imagination and energy they bring to the class. I hope your experience
in this class is as rewarding as mine. |
