Men's Programs in Action

2003 Conference
In October 2003, Pierce College Men's programs sponsored a conference on men and boys in education, featuring best-selling author Michael Gurian.
The Men's Forum
Started over eight years ago, The Men's Forum is the oldest consecutive running student support group on the Puyallup campus. It has few rules and patterns itself after other and more typical men's groups. Each man is free to speak his mind; what is said in the room stays in the room. There are no leaders and as such all men's wisdom is honored. Alumni are always welcome and frequently return to participate.
Mentoring
This [the mentorship program] opens the door. A mentor can help you find solutions for yourself.
The Men's Mentorship Program, co-Founded over four years ago by Bret Burkholder, Ed Leitner and Warren Brown, is more formal (i.e. structured) and one-to-one than the The Men's Forum. Within this program specific contracts are designed between mentor and mentee to help ensure success within the students years of college.
Many men choose to participate in both the Forum and the Mentorship Program to gain support and valuable networking advantages for their academic and personal success at Pierce College.
