Pierce College Music

Jazz Expo 2008, May 16, will feature Louise Rose, guest speaker, versatile pianist, vocalist, recording artist, composer, motivational speaker, songwriter, choral conductor, and accompanist. There will be a no host bar at 6:30 with dinner and entertainment to follow thereafter. The event will be on the Puyallup Campus in the College Center Building. Trumpeter Thomas Marriott will also be performing with the Jazz Ensemble and he will be providing an afternoon clinic (4:00), also in the College Center Building. The clinic is free to the public. The Pierce College Student Jazz Ensemble won the Community College Jazz Ensemble Division for the fourth year in a row at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. Under the director of Kareem Kandi, two of the groups members, Gabriel Burbano (trumpet) and Scott Allan (trombone) also won soloist awards in the College Division, a division which also includes competition from the four years colleges and universities throughout the nation. March 6 (Thursday), 7:30, Lagerquist Hall on the PLU campus, $5.00 tickets at the door. Featuring the Fort Steilacoom Concert Choir and Band, and the Puyallup Concert Choir. Also, the event will feature a combined work for all three groups. For more information call 964-6572.
