Concert Band
The Pierce College Concert Band was formed in 1973 shortly after the creation of the Pierce College Music Department. For the last 29 years, it has been under the direction of Dr. Jere Knudtsen. The Pierce College Concert Band performs in early December, mid-March, and early June, as well as at occasional special events throughout the year.
While the Pierce Concert Band solicits qualified community participation, it also is an important group for students attending Pierce College with a major or minor interest in the field of music.
As membership changes from time to time, so does the professional interests of its constituency. Over the years, the group has involved and continues to involve a wide variety of professional interests: students, lawyers, physicians, veternarians, accountants, teachers, engineers, housewives, reporters, nurses, small business owners, military personnel, clerical professionals, retirees, and many more.
The band performs a wide variety of pieces from the classical repetoire, from Beethoven to Sousa, Elgar to Copeland. Check out the online catalog for a sample.
