DESCRIPTION:

This course introduces prospective high school graduates to proactive skills and strategies for meeting their culminating project needs.

OUTCOMES:

After completing this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Understand what the culminating project and high school and beyond project mean and their importance as a planning tool for the student's future.
  2. Create a viable culminating project topic and receive instructor approval for the topic.
  3. Have a working knowledge of culminating project expectations and create an outline and viable timeline for achieving those expectations prior to graduation.
  4. Create and reflect on a post high school plan, including:
    • Career and Occupation exploration
    • Post secondary options
      • College planning and educational expenses estimates
      • Vocational pathways
    • Resume Worksheet
  5. Describe and utilize effective time management techniques.
  6. Take accurate research notes in order to organize source information and efficiently use research skills to find a variety of credible sources.
  7. Create an annotated bibliography correctly using APA or MLA format.
  8. Complete an exit interview or compose a presentation that highlights their culminating project.
CLASS SCHEDULE:
Attendance is mandatory.

Classes will meet once weekly throughout the entire ten week quarter. Students are expected to attend one class period per week. Any two absences from class will result in a failing grade for the class. You may make up a class at the opposite campus with instructor approval.
