Work Action Policy

The Board of Trustees delegates to the district chancellor the responsibility to determine when a strike, work stoppage, or work slowdown of any nature or kind exists.

In the event of a strike, work stoppage, or work slowdown of any nature or kind, the Board of Trustees hereby delegates to the district chancellor the power and authority to take those actions necessary and permitted by statute to keep the college open and functioning.

Where the district chancellor determines that a strike, work stoppage, or work slowdown of any nature or kind exists, the board delegates to the district chancellor the authority to discipline or discharge employees, to modify the college's hours or days of operations, to close the college, to initiate and/or settle litigation with the advice of the Office of the Attorney General, and to take other appropriate and necessary actions consistent with college collective bargaining agreements and applicable RCWs.
