Admission Requirements
The successful applicant to the program will be:
- Fluent in English and another language, in both spoken and written forms
- Comfortable speaking in public
- Professional in appearance and demeanor
- Highly motivated
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Each requirement must be met through one of the options listed:
- A TOEFL score of 550 OR an OPI rating of Advanced High in English OR department permission.
- An OPI rating of Advanced High in a language other than English OR department permission.
NOTE: Decisions to admit students to the program may be guided by the availability of faculty and/or paraprofessionals qualified to assess student performance AND by the demand for interpreters in a particular language in Pierce County.

- Cover letter detailing reasons you wish to be an interpreter and the qualifications you have to be trained as an interpreter.
- Test scores and/or other documentation of language ability.
- Letter of recommendation from a teacher or employer.
- Any college transcripts
