Business – University Transfer

Faculty (Fort Steilacoom): Doug Jensen, Tom Phelps, Dr. Les Price, Blake Sorem
  Puyallup: Steve Kober
Degree: Associate in Arts & Sciences; AAS Option B Business Transfer AAS Degree

The Business transfer program prepares students to transfer to four-year institutions as majors in business, accounting, finance, management, marketing, economics, international business, computer information systems, human resource management and other related fields, such as hospital and hotel administration. Career opportunities for graduates of such four-year programs are varied and numerous, with employment offerings and salaries remaining strong. In addition, business transfer courses support several vocational programs and often are taken by AAS degree students fulfilling their general education requirements.

Students planning to transfer in business with junior standing normally must, in the course of completing the AAS or AAS Option B requirements, complete a number of business, computer information systems, economics and mathematics courses at Pierce College. Because the requirements for transfer students in general, and business students in particular, vary significantly among four-year institutions, it is imperative that the student check with the transfer institution regarding specific course needs and transferable credits. Normally included in those requirements are the following courses, which virtually all four-year institutions require junior-level business students to have taken and which are offered at Pierce College in sequence by area (e.g., ECON 212 and 213) following completion of the necessary prerequisites:
