Geography

Faculty (Fort Steilacoom): Moses P. Lai
  (Puyallup): Chris Vanneson
Degree: Associate in Arts & Sciences

Geography is an integrating and synthesizing discipline. It is a bridge discipline uniting the social and physical sciences, focusing on the patterns of distribution.

The Geography department offers courses which introduce students to the physical and cultural systems of the environment. These courses are basic for those who are planning to major in geography, elementary and secondary education, regional planning, environmental studies, government, international trade, business, transportation, law and many other areas. Geography is a useful area of study for those who are interested in regional analysis, market analysis, resource analysis, regional development, urban construction, economic growth and cartographic skills.

There are no prerequisites for geography classes at Pierce College. Geography 205, Man's Physical Environment, meets the natural science requirement for the Associate in Art & Sciences degree.
