Design Squad Week 5

This week on Design Squad.  On the Mississippi River with Huckleberry Finn.
Monday – we discovered how hard it was to build a raft using only materials we found from nature.
Tuesday – paddle-wheel boat races.  Only one paddleboat made it across the pool but there were great design ideas and plenty of duct tape.

Design Squad – Week 4

The Theme – Fantasy
Monday – Kyle and Nicole challenged the members to create a Dungeons and Dragons map.
Tuesday – Teams had to design a role-playing board game, card game, or combination  of each
Wednesday – for robotics, the teams built a rattlesnake, catapult, crazy spinner and a dogsled.  Each ‘bot was very cool.

Design Squad Week 3

Holy Moly – 19 people!  16 participants and 3 producers/directors.
Monday – we had to abandon Harrison Prep due to lack of power (thank you Puget Sound Energy).  At the Lakewood Pres Clubhouse we built kicking machines and the girls team rocked!

Monday – after introductions and watching a Design Squad episode, the Clubhouse kids mixed music for our own episode.   Today’s mini-challenge was to  safely land a home-made lunar lander and it’s marshmallow astronauts.
