Safe Zones Resources

Information on pink and black triangles:

They originate from the Holocaust, where the Nazis created a system of identifications for all their detainees at the Camps (and for Jews everywhere in the country).  The sign for gay men was a pink triangle, a black triangle for lesbians.  The use of this symbol is an example an oppressed group taking the power of the word/symbol from the oppressor and transforming it.  Thus the pride and positive affirmation of the pink triangle carries with it a reminder of the need for active statements of pride.
