Strategic Direction One

Pierce College will foster a learning-centered environment to serve its diverse students, staff and community through continual identification and assessment of learning needs for the 21st century.

1.1. Provide educational offerings and programs that prepare students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for:

• transfer
• job readiness
• basic skills attainment
• life-long learning

1.2. Support "whole student development" by implementing initiatives to meet changing needs of its diverse students.

1.3. Encourage and provide professional growth and development opportunities for all employees.

1.4. Increase the number of faculty, staff, administrators and students who teach and model the five core abilities: effective communication, information competency, multiculturalism, responsibility and critical thinking.

1.5. Create access to learning by reducing barriers.

1.6. Support a climate of inclusion that promotes, values, and respects different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences to strengthen our ability to learn and to grow.
