Q: How much does a HEC membership cost?
The cost of a HEC membership for students is $15 (plus tax) per quarter.
Q: Where do I pay my membership fee?
All HEC fees must be paid through the cashier's office.
Q: Is there any paperwork that I need to fill out and turn in?
Students that are over the age of 18 can sign into their MyPierce account and electronically submit the form. Students that are under the age of 18 must fill out and return a paper copy of the waiver, which needs to be signed by a parent or guardian.
Q: Do I need to show my ID card when I enter the building?
For security purposes, we need you to scan your card when you enter the facility.
Q: Can I bring a friend or spouse to work out with me?
Yes, as long as they are a registered member of the HEC. To become a registered member, they need to sign up for a one-credit PE class. This will give them access to the HEC.
Q: Are you open on the weekends?
The HEC is open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and closed on Sundays.
Q: Are the PE classes that are held in this building included in the membership fee?
No. If you want to take a PE class, you must register for it like any other credit class. However, the membership fee is included in the class fee.
Q: Does the HEC have lockers, and can I use them?
Yes, we do have lockers. We don’t check them out and they are first come first served. We also discourage leaving belongings overnight.
Q: How long does a HEC membership last?
HEC memberships last for the entire quarter while attending Pierce College.
Q: What are the slowest usage times in the facility?
The HEC is less crowded early in the morning (6-8 a.m.) and late at night (5-7 p.m.)
Q: Are we allowed to use the exercise room or classroom?
Yes. As long as a class is not scheduled, you may use the rooms.
Q: What is the procedure for staff and faculty to use the facility?
Staff and faculty have two options when registering for the HEC. They can either register for a one-credit PE class, or pay a $20 HEC usage fee (plus tax) for each quarter they want to use the facility.
