Associate in Accounting Program Outcomes

Students will:

  • Possess the necessary skills to perform basic functions of entry level bookkeeping/accounting positions, for example:

    • Accounting/bookkeeping clerk or assistant/junior accountant
    • Management trainee
    • Business owner
  • Know how to apply related accounting knowledge such as taxation, payroll, auditing in performing accounting/bookkeeping functions/work.
  • Use computer and related tools to perform financial reports and management reports.
  • Be aware of the ethical issues facing the profession and the value of a responsible citizen.
  • Understand choices for professional development and career change.

Certificate in Practical Accounting Program Outcomes

Students will:

  • Possess knowledge of and be ready to perform basic functions of bookkeeping/accounting procedures and duties as required in the entry level bookkeeping/accounting positions, for example:

    • Assistant bookkeeper/accountant
    • Accounting trainee
    • Business owner
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using accounting computer software (e.g., Peachtree and QuickBooks) to do basic bookkeeping/accounting and prepare basic accounting reports.
  • Be prepared to pursue opportunities for professional development, career change, and pursuance of associate and higher degrees in accounting or related disciplines.
