Concert Band

The Pierce College Concert Band is a student and community wind ensemble based at Pierce College Puyallup. The band is Pierce College's largest performing ensemble. Students attending Pierce College with any interest in music are encouraged to work with us. The Pierce College Concert Band also has a strong community membership, including musicians with many backgrounds and professions (including professional musicians, students, lawyers, physicians, accountants, teachers, veterinarians, engineers, journalists, nurses, small business owners, military personnel, retirees, and many more).

The Pierce College Concert Band performs selections from a vast repertory of compositions and arrangements for the wind band. Suites, symphonies, marches, theatre music, movie music, orchestral transcriptions, tone poems, songs, ballads, and fanfares will be performed.

The Pierce College Concert Band performs regularly at the end of Pierce College's fall, winter, and spring terms. As one of the largest wind groups in Pierce County, the Concert Band also performs at community events throughout the South Sound area.

Rehearsals for students and community members are Tuesday nights (7:30 - 9:30 p.m.) at the Arts and Allied Health Building Rehearsal Hall. Students taking the course for college credit will also participate in a lab rehearsal for all Pierce College instrumentalists Wednesday afternoons (3 - 5 p.m.). While the ensemble is open to all student and community musicians who are interested, a short audition may be required at the beginning of each fall quarter to demonstrate ability based on ensemble capacity limits.

All questions about the band or joining the ensemble can be directed to Joey Scott at JPScott@pierce.ctc.edu.
