Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) are health care providers for emergency medical services. EMTs are clinicians, trained to respond quickly to emergency situations regarding medical issues, traumatic injuries, accident scenes or when disaster strikes. The Emergency Medical Services program provides the necessary education and training to work on a private ambulance, as a firefighter, a police officer or a number of other careers in the medical field.

Emergency management professionals work to make their communities and organizations less vulnerable to disaster through mitigation and preparedness. During emergencies, these same professionals help preserve life and property, manage community recovery, and help build more resilient futures. The Pierce College Emergency Management (EM) degree program is designed to prepare graduates to be active contributors in the rapidly evolving emergency and disaster management and/or business continuity professions.
