In celebration of May as Asian and Pasifika Heritage month, the ASPIRE Program invites you to join us for an afternoon of oral histories and poetry as told through the lens of API artists.

Thy Nguyen (she/her/hers) is a queer, first generation Vietnamese immigrant, spoken word artist, and a resident of Tacoma. In 2012, Thy was named the City of Tacoma's Poet Laureate for 2015–2017.

Meta Sarmiento is a poet, rapper and educator. A Filipino from Guam, Meta is recognized for his spoken word poetry and lyricism. He won Spoken Word for the World 2015 and is a three-time semi-finalist with Team Back Pack Cypher.
