Omari Amili is an author, advocate and educator from Seattle, Washington. He came from a very disadvantaged background and his childhood included hardships such as homelessness and foster care. Omari attended over 15 schools growing up before becoming a product of the school-to-prison pipeline. With a lack of positive influences, he engaged in a life of crime that ended with 30 felonies and a prison sentence for bank fraud.

After releasing from prison, Omari enrolled at Pierce College where he began an academic journey that ultimately lead to four college degrees including an AA, two BA’s and a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. Hear his story and join him in discussion about how college students can overcome adversity on the way to earning their degree.
