Pierce College is proud to partner with Mi Centro, a community-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing Latino and Indigenous communities through education, advocacy, and cultural celebration. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to student belonging, advancing student success, and thriving communities.

About Mi Centro

Located in Tacoma, Washington, Mi Centro serves Latino and Indigenous Native families through a wide range of services, including:

  • Educational Programs
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Family Outreach
  • Arts & Culture Programming
  • Advocacy for Social Justice

Their mission is to cultivate the advancement of these communities while honoring heritage and culture. Mi Centro also supports LGBTQ+, Afrolatine, and other historically marginalized groups.

Our Shared Vision

Together, Pierce College and Mi Centro are working to:

  • Expand access to higher education for underserved communities.
  • Celebrate cultural heritage through events like the annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration, hosted at Pierce College Puyallup.
  • Provide holistic student support, including scholarships, mentorship, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Foster inclusive learning environments that reflect the diverse identities of our students.

Services Provided

Mi Centro’s College Readiness Coordinator may assist with:

  • Completing Pierce College applications
  • Completing financial aid applications
  • Accessing campus and community benefits and services
  • Connecting community members to Pierce College academic offerings
  • Connecting to Mi Centro resources and services

Hosted in partnership with Mi Centro, this vibrant event featured music, food, and cultural education, honoring the rich heritage of the Mexican community.
