More students will soon be able to study Kinesiology closer to home as Pierce College expands the program to the Puyallup campus.
PUYALLUP, WA — Students interested in Kinesiology can now pursue their studies closer to home, as Pierce College expands its Kinesiology program to the Puyallup campus beginning this fall.
Previously offered exclusively at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom and Pierce College at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, the program's district-wide expansion gives students more options to complete the associate of applied science degree or certificate programs. Students can begin taking Kinesiology courses and prerequisites at Pierce College Puyallup in Fall 2026 and will be able to take all the necessary courses to complete their degree in kinesiology.
Pierce College's Kinesiology AAS-T degree can be completed in two years, while the Personal Training and Athletic Coaching certificates can be completed in one year. The program prepares students to pursue national certifications, employment in the health and fitness/coaching industries, or transfer to a four-year university. Kinesiology graduates can pursue careers in fitness, sports performance, physical and occupational therapy, exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, lifestyle and weight management, and other health and wellness fields. Pierce College also offers a direct transfer pathway to Pacific Lutheran University for students pursuing a bachelor's degree.
