Gain skills in medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; and medical insurance forms, in order to get a job within the medical office setting as an administrative assistant and/or office support staff. With this applied technical AA degree, you can further your education through Central Washington University, earning a four-year degree in Information Technology and Administrative Management (ITAM).

Complete the certificate in approximately 4 full-time quarters and the associate degree in approximately 8 full-time quarters.

Learn the computer and general office skills needed to gain employment as an administrative office assistant in the private or government sector, such as school districts, real estate companies, accounting companies, and government agencies. The skills gained in this degree are highly transferable to numerous other positions and increase your marketability in the business office. The computer classes prepare you for taking and passing the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Exam. With this applied technical AA degree, you can further your education through Central Washington University, earning a four-year degree in Information Technology and Administrative Management (ITAM).

Complete this certificate in approximately 3 full-time quarters.

Master the skills needed for an entry-level employment position in a business office, as data entry, clerical, receptionist, or other office-support personnel. This three-quarter program is an extra layer of support for you to successfully complete your college-level math and English. After completing this certificate, you can pursue additional certificates and degrees within the Business Information Technology Department, such as Administrative Assistant Medical Office, Medical Billing and Coding, Administrative Office Assistant, and Office Management.

Complete the certificate in approximately 5 full-time quarters and the associate degree in approximately 8 full-time quarters.

Gain a strong foundation in medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; and medical insurance forms. Then take courses in Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), with the ultimate goal of taking and passing the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) National Exam. Completion of the Medical Billing and Coding degree and AAPC CPC credential prepares you for employment as a medical biller/coder for hospitals, clinics, or doctor’s offices. With this applied technical AA degree, you can further your education through Central Washington University, earning a four-year degree in Information Technology and Administrative Management (ITAM).

Complete this associate degree in approximately 8 full-time quarters.

Prepare for an office management position in the private or government sector. This degree includes many of the courses for the Administrative Office Assistant degree, along with additional courses in human resource management, principles of management, business law, accounting, and customer relationships. Students who complete the Administrative Office Assistant degree often add on the extra quarter of classes to earn this degree as well. The skills gained in this degree are highly transferable to numerous other positions and increase your marketability in the business office. In addition, medical office assistants, medical billing specialists, and those with training in medical transcription are always highly sought after by healthcare companies.
