Become a Veterinary Technician

Provide high-quality care to animals as a valued member of the veterinary health team. With an associate degree, you’ll support veterinarians in a variety of settings, including animal hospitals and zoological parks.

Prerequisites include Intermediate Algebra (MATH 098 or MATH&107), Survey of Biology (BIOL& 100), Preparatory Chemistry (CHEM& 100), English Composition I (ENGL& 101), and Medical Terminology I (BTECM 150).

The Veterinary Technology program is a full-time course that requires 21 months to complete. Classes start in September and run through June.

Vet Tech Careers in Washington State

Our students, equipped with critical skills and knowledge, become valued members of veterinary health care teams by providing high-quality assistance to veterinarians and professional nursing care and compassion to their animal patients. We are proud to provide a solid education in veterinary technology.

Jobs as veterinary technicians are available in large, mixed and small animal veterinary practices. Job opportunities are also available in the fields of research, primate centers, zoos, regulatory medicine, veterinary product sales and similar areas.

Veterinary Technicians:

  • Nurse in a clinical setting
  • Induce and monitor anesthesia
  • Obtain radiographs and use other imaging techniques
  • Perform laboratory tests (blood counts, urinalysis, etc.)
  • Assist with surgery
  • Educate clients in nutrition and animal husbandry
