Program Information

Pierce College's highly successful, integrated ESL classes are designed to meet the language needs of our immigrant community. Courses include social studies, language, writing, mathematics, reading, history and science. Classes meet 8-12 hours per week and are available mornings, afternoons or evenings. Classes are offered at sites throughout Pierce County and at the Fort Steilacoom or Puyallup campuses.

Pierce College also offers the I-DEA (Integrated Digital English Acceleration) program. Students use technology in the classroom to learn English as a second language. Students improve their English language, technology and career-readiness skills. The I-DEA program is offered at the Fort Steilacoom and Puyallup campuses.

New students need to attend an orientation and be scheduled for state required evaluation. Students are then enrolled in classes based on their skills assessment results.

ESL classes at Pierce College can lead to obtaining a high school diploma, career training or pursuing a college degree. Learn more about ESL Program Pathways.
