
Advising Appointments
To best serve our students' academic advising needs, we offer four types (Current, New Student, Prospective Student, Drop-In) of advising appointments through our advising centers at Fort Steilacoom (FS), Joint Base Lewis – McChord (JBLM), and Puyallup (PY). Current Student Appointments
During your appointment you can expect us to discuss the following with you:
- Check in on your progress, celebrate your wins, and address any challenges you might be facing
- Offer resources that might support your student success and transfer/career readiness
- Review and revise your Starfish Degree Planner
- Complete forms, documents, and other activities that help resolve an issue and prepare for graduation
As a current student, you can schedule a 30-minute advising appointment in two ways: through your Starfish account or by contacting your preferred advising center.

Log into your Starfish account to schedule an appointment with your assigned advisor or student success coach.
Preferred Advising Center
Contact your preferred advising center and schedule an appointment with the next available student success coach.

New Student Advising Appointments
As a newly admitted student, we offer a 45-minute initial advising appointment to discuss your college and career goals and ensure your successful start.
What to Expect
During your appointment, you can expect us to engage with you in the following ways:
- Welcome and learn more about your academic and career goals
- Plan your first term schedule including College Success
- Guided Self-Placement (GSP) to review and confirm math and English start point
- Career pathway choice and develop an individual course map
- Discuss Student Support Center and other resources
Prepare for Your Appointment
We value your time. To help use our time effectively, please complete the following prior to your appointment:
- Set up your ctcLink Student Homepage
- Complete the New Student Guide
- Complete Guided Self-Placement for math and English
- Please bring any transcripts from other regionally accredited colleges/universities to your new student appointment.

Prospective Student Appointments
Prospective student appointments are for you to discuss career pathways and program requirements, transfer credits, and to provide guidance on the steps to getting started at Pierce College.

Virtual Drop-Ins
Virtual Drop-In appointments are 10 to 15-minute sessions that we offer to you daily through our Zoom Virtual Welcome Desk. Our goal is to be available for those just-in-time supports that keep you moving toward your current and future goals.
