Advisor Responsibilities

- Welcome and orient students holistically, providing equity-minded support aligned with their unique contexts.
- Craft personalized educational and career planning that honors diverse goals and lived experiences.
- Proactively offer resources—academic, basic needs, mental health—in culturally sustaining ways.
- Build long-term trust through relational advising and consistent outreach.
- Share discipline-specific insights and help shape academic and career pathways inclusively.
- Offer guidance on course sequencing, transfer readiness, and industry expectations with respect for cultural contexts and barriers.
- Provide exploratory support that respects students' passions and identity-aware decision-making.
- Assist in aligning life and career goals across identity and experience differences.
- Adapt support style to meet varied student needs (e.g. academic, emotional, cultural).

Engage Actively and Respectfully
- Familiarize yourself with College policies, program requirements, and deadlines.
- Bring honesty, integrity, and a spirit of inquiry to all interactions.
Own Your Educational Journey
- Consistently monitor your academic progress (e.g., via Starfish).
- Meet with your assigned advisor at least once each quarter to stay on track.
Exercise Equity-Minded Engagement
- Approach the advising relationship with openness and self-reflection.
- Use campus supports thoughtfully, being mindful of access and resources.
Contribute to a Positive Community
- Show up with presence and kindness in shared learning spaces like libraries and classrooms.
- Respect others’ time and space—upholding professionalism and collaboration.
