Study Tours at Pierce College
Study Tours are one-to-two-week study abroad programs perfect for students with busy work schedules or family obligations.
To participate in Study Tours, students must:
- Be 18 years or older by travel date
- In good academic standing
- Have a valid passport. Please note that passports can take up to 12 weeks to be processed
2026 Study Tour: Art and Culture in Tokyo and Kamakura
Experience Japan Over Spring Break!
March 25 through April 3, 2026 | $1,850
Discover Japan During Cherry Blossom Season
Spend your Spring Break exploring the vibrant blend of traditional and modern Japan in this 9-day, 8-night study tour focused on art appreciation or an introduction to humanities. Led by Pierce College Professor Dave Roholt, this academically enriching journey will take you through bustling Tokyo and the scenic coastal town of Kamakura, giving you an introduction into Japanese culture, art, and daily life.
You’ll earn five transferable college credits while soaking up the beauty of sakura (cherry blossoms), discovering local art, and gaining a new perspective—both academically and personally.

- 6 nights in Tokyo’s Ueno area + 2 nights in the historic Kamakura region
- Visits to art museums, shrines, and temples
- Hands-on traditional art workshops
- Experience Japan during cherry blossom season

Changes in Cost or Scope of Program
In the event of significant devaluations of the dollar, some adjustments to program activities may be necessary. If there are any political events that might compromise the safety of the participants, a rescheduling or cancellation of the program may be necessary. If such changes occur, students will be notified of the changes and options will be presented.
Please also note these plans are subject to change based on world health conditions. Pierce College follows both U.S. Department of State and CDC recommendations for travel. Please visit the U.S. Department of State website on international travel to view the latest travel advisories for your country of study.
Orientation
To be eligible to study abroad, all program participants must attend pre-departure orientations facilitated by the program directors and International Education.
Program Cancellation
If viable enrollment is not reached by June 15, 2024 the program will be cancelled. Participants will be notified and any program fees will be refunded.
