TRIO SSS

TRIO Student Support Services is an educational opportunity program committed to advancing the academic experiences of students who are first-generation, income eligible, and/or have a documented disability.

We know that all students have immense potential, and we are here to give specific supports that catapult you towards your academic and professional goals. The TRIO SSS grant is on a five-year funding cycle and funded through August 31, 2030!

TRIO SSS Programs

Pierce College offers two TRIO SSS programs on the Puyallup and Fort Steilacoom campuses.

TRIO SSS Classic

This program provides holistic student services that promote the academic development and motivation needed for successful completion of post-secondary degree and transfer goals. We provide proactive advising, mentoring and coaching, university transfer tours and assistance, as well as social and cultural engagement opportunities. TRIO SSS Classic is funded to serve 140 Pierce College students on each campus.

TRIO SSS Disability Support Services

This program assists college students with disabilities and access needs. We provide individualized support, resources, and guidance to help students navigate their academic journey and prepare to transfer. TRIO DSS is funded to serve 100 Pierce College students on each campus.

We support students with a wide range of experiences, including but not limited to:

• Neurodivergence: ADHD, Autism Spectrum, Dyslexia or Sensory Processing Sensitivity
• Mental Health: Anxiety, Depression or PTSD
• Chronic Illness: Autoimmune diseases, Crohn’s or Diabetes
• Sensory and Physical: Visual or Hearing Impairments, Arthritis, Chronic Pain or Mobility Challenges
