Fort Steilacoom TRIO Services

TRIO students are automatically enrolled into an exclusive online tutoring service providing on-demand access to tutoring. All students also have access to the PASS Tutoring Center, the Writing Center and the Math Center for in-person tutoring at the Fort Steilacoom campus.

We assist students in completing their financial aid applications through group and individual sessions. We also help students identify and apply for scholarships and grants.

We host various trips to enhance the college transfer preparation, academic and personal enrichment, and professional development of our students. Recent trips include:

• University of Washington campuses (Seattle, WA and Tacoma, WA)
• The Evergreen State College (Olympia, WA and Tacoma, WA)
• Pacific Lutheran University (Tacoma, WA)
• The Burke Museum (Seattle, WA)
• Central Washington University and Heritage University (Ellensburg, WA and Toppenish, WA)
• The WA State TRIO Association’s Civic Leadership Conference (Aberdeen, WA)
• End of Year Recognition Event via Argosy Cruises (Seattle, WA)

We understand life can be unpredictable at times. Unanticipated and unusual expenses can cause significant stress and impact academic success and personal well-being. TRIO SSS has emergency grant aid available to support currently enrolled Pierce College TRIO SSS students.

Emergency grant aid varies by year, may not be offered every year, and is limited to actively participating students. Please refer to the TRIO SSS Canvas page for more information!

We offer several amenities in our Cascade 322 office including a large study table space, a couch and bean bag lounge with large white boards available for studying, board games, the use of a desktop computer and printer, graphing calculators to borrow, access to a Nintendo Switch and more!
