Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

What is the TEAS?

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) evaluates an applicant's knowledge in the subject areas of reading comprehension, mathematics, science, and English language usage. It is required as part of the application for the Veterinary Technology program.

Group Testing Sessions

The Veterinary Technology Program and the Pierce College Testing Center will be offering the TEAS exam in group testing sessions. Students will need to sign up for a group testing session by registering for one of the following dates at least 24 hours before a scheduled testing session.   

Location: Testing Computer Lab, Fort Steilacoom Testing Center

Scheduled testing dates for 2026 (Tuesdays and Fridays)

  • February: 10, 24 (Note: February 17 excluded due to Student Services Professional Development Day)
  • March: 10, 17, 24, 27, 31
  • April: 3, 7, 10, 14

All tests take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Test Fee

$70 exam fee.  $5 administrative fee. Payment assistance is available for qualified students. Contact the Veterinary Technology Program to discuss available resources.

The testing fees must be paid online through the ATI website on the day of testing. Payment can only be made by credit or debit card. Applicants will need to create an ATI account before their testing session.

Registration

After completing their application to Pierce College, Veterinary Technology applicants can sign up to take the TEAS via Starfish. You will need to log in with your student account before you can access the sign up form.

Sign up for Group Testing Session

Accommodations

If you are a student with approved accommodations through the Access and Disabilities Services (ADS) department, you will need to send an e-mail directly to ADS at ADS@pierce.ctc.edu.   ADS will work with you to set up any approved accommodations for TEAS testing.

Day of Test

Students must arrive on campus and check in at the Welcome Center no later than 8 a.m. on the day they register to take their TEAS exam.  Valid ID is required. Payment for the exam must be made before the exam is administered.  Late arrivals will not be allowed and the student will need to reschedule their exam.

Scores

When checking out of the exam, applicants should ask the Testing Center personnel for an official copy of their test results.  They will seal it in an envelope.  Do not open this envelope.  Applicants should submit the sealed envelope with their application packet

Retesting

The TEAS exam can only be taken twice within the same application cycle.
