Coordinated Entry
The first step in finding housing resources is to complete a Coordinated Entry (CE) intake. Most housing programs in Pierce County require a CE intake before receiving services.

- Multiple agencies across Pierce County have drop-in hours for those needing a CE intake
- Washington 211
- Dial 211 or text “211WAOD” to 898211
- Tacoma Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness
- Has daily information for shower and day centers, overnight shelters, and walk-in hours for agencies who can make referrals to housing resources.
- Tacoma Rescue Mission (TRM)
- Provides emergency shelter, meals, shower, and laundry services for those experiencing homelessness. Has shelter options for single men, women, and families.
- Fair Housing Center of Washington
- Addresses unlawful housing discrimination in Western and Central Washington.
- Human Rights Commission
- Investigates discrimination in areas of employment, housing, accommodation, and credit & insurance issue. Gives resources for support in these areas.
- Northwest Justice Project
- Gives free legal assistance in areas of housing, healthcare, education, income security and more. Eviction support available.
- Pierce County Eviction Protection
- Helps eligible households pay past due rent and may help pay current and future rent.
- Tacoma Pro Bono/Housing Justice Project - Eviction Prevention
- Provides advice and support for those who have been served eviction notices.

- AHAT (Affordable Housing and Treatment)
- Supports people living with HIV and/or Hepatitis C obtain affordable housing and access healthcare.
- HOPWA (Housing Options for People with AIDS)
- Helps people living with HIV (PLWH) get stable housing.
- LASA (Living Access Support Alliance)
- Provides support for families experiencing homelessness. Requires a Coordinated Entry referral.
- Multicultural Child and Family Hope Center
- Serves families through peer support groups, homelessness prevention, transitional housing, and much more.
- Pierce County Housing Authority (PCHA)
- Manages multiple housing programs across Pierce County, including the Housing Choice Voucher program (aka Section 8).
- Tacoma Housing Authority (THA)
- Manages multiple housing programs, including the Housing Choice Voucher program (aka Section 8) for Tacoma residents.
- REACH Center
- Helps youth aged 12-24 who are homeless or have unstable housing.
- Northwest Furniture Bank
- Provides eligible households with gently used furniture (up to 9+ pieces) at reduced cost. Referral required.
- Associated Ministries - Renters Readiness
- Offers free renters' readiness classes online to help boost your rental application and more.
- WA Department of Financial Institutions
- Offers support, advice, and resources for mortgage assistance and foreclosure.
