The Writers' Studio is located in room 403 in the Library at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom. It provides students with free, trained writing advisors to assist with all types of writing projects and assignments. Advisors can assist in all phases of the project, from generating an idea to making final edits.
Writing help is available on a first-come, first served basis, so appointments are unnecessary. Students must, however, be present during their session with a writing advisor (no "drop-offs" of papers are allowed). Services are available to all students, including undergraduates, graduates, international, English as a Second Language, and Running Start students.

Writers' Studio advisors are trained to assist with all kinds of writing assignments, including research papers, essays, college entrance and scholarship applications, resumes, and speeches. Advisors do not "fix" papers. Rather, they empower students to improve their own writing and teach them to self-edit.
(Note: The Writers' Studio does not provide assistance with reading, pronunciation, or comprehension. Students needing those services are advised to consult the Academic Support Center staff for an appointment with a reading specialist. In addition, Pierce College offers a number of classes in vocabulary, reading comprehension, and more.)
In addition to consultations with writing advisors, a number of resources within the Writers' Studio are available for students to use. These include dictionaries, thesauruses, handbooks, style guides, and grammar books. There are also free handouts that provide general assistance with preparing an essay, researching papers, writing a thesis, providing correct documentation, using grammar and punctuation, writing resumes, and completing application essays.
