Evelyn Royal

Program Coordinator - Enrollment Services and Admissions

Here is what her supervisor, Els Deming, has to say about Evelyn’s time at Pierce College:
What a pleasure to share a few thoughts about Evelyn Royal’s 30-year career here at Pierce College.  Evelyn started at Pierce in March 1987.  Over the years, Evelyn has spent the majority of her career at Lakewood in the Registration and Records office, though twice she ventured over to Puyallup where she worked in Registration for several years and again where currently she is working in the Admissions office as a Program Coordinator.

Regardless of the location or her position, she always strives to perform her work conscientiously and professionally. Evelyn has a heart of gold, and will help anyone and everyone at the drop of a hat. She goes out of her way to make sure our students here at Pierce College, and staff for that matter, have all the help and tools they need to be successful. Removing barriers for our students is something she always strives to accomplish.

A few things you may not have known about Evelyn is that she has a fun and quirky sense of humor and loves a good laugh. Evelyn enjoys lunching with friends and, after work, you may find her at the local gym or taking a walk to unwind and relax.

We all feel very fortunate to have her here at Pierce, as she continues to make a positive impact on the college community. If you have never met Evelyn, I urge you to pour a cup of tea and get to know her.

What an exciting milestone – 30 years!  Congratulations, Evelyn!

Bryan Torell

Bryan Torell

Program Support Supervisor - Document Solutions Center

Here is what his supervisor, Joel Gavino, has to say about Bryan’s time at Pierce College:

Although Bryan Torell has had a long and illustrious career, its latter phase began when he worked for the offices of Seattle Colleges, continued on with the University of Washington’s Printing and Production Department, and then culminating in 1991 when he started managing the Print Shop here at Pierce College.  That was a time when actual ink was still used in the presses instead of toner used in today’s printing devices.  Always feeling like there’s something more he can do, Bryan was also the district’s WPEA Chief Shop Steward for over 9 years, a very rewarding time for him.  When asked to provide a memorable highlight working for Pierce College, he mentioned the print production of the 50th Year Anniversary Gala Program and its inclusion in a Time Capsule.

Bryan and his wife, Theresa, have been happily married for over 39 years.  They have three children and two grandchildren (ages 11 and 7 years old).  During the winter and summer months, they enjoy a relaxing time at their family cabin in Arlington, along the Stillaguamish River.  However, when not at that cabin during summers, you will find him fishing for salmon with lifelong friends in a more remote cabin in Alaska.  He also has a great love for boating, having boat-camped throughout the San Juan Islands and Southeast Alaska and more recently, joining the Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron boating club.  His passion for the outdoors has also made a significant impact in his volunteer work.  He places cameras in the remote backcountries throughout Washington to help in the monitoring and recording of endangered and protected wildlife.

Bryan also mentioned that he’s been lucky to have worked with the most creative, understanding, committed, and educated people throughout the years here in Pierce College (especially those of you who are reading this biography).  He is very grateful for the time he’s been with Pierce College.

Pierce is lucky to have had Bryan’s expertise, drive, and passion over the past 30 years. Here’s to another 30 years of quality service and dedication. Congratulations, Bryan!
