Pierce College was recently named the top college for veterans in the Northwest in a comprehensive annual list by the Military Times. The Best for Vets: Colleges 2021 ranking also named Pierce College the No. 1 community college for veterans in the nation.

For the past 10 years, Military Times’ Best for Vets: Colleges has been a top resource for veterans to help with their education decisions. Each year, a comprehensive survey is sent to colleges and universities across the nation asking about their programs for veterans. The survey results are analyzed, along with public data about colleges and universities obtained from the Department of Education and Department of Veterans Affairs, and turned into an official ranking.

“We’re grateful to the Military Times for recognizing schools that go above and beyond in serving military-connected students,” said Pierce College at JBLM Executive Director Mark Haskins. “This is not optional for us, and we expect to make the list. However, to be ranked No. 1 Best for Vets community college in the nation and No. 1 overall institution in the northwest region is truly an honor. It’s particularly gratifying to be recognized among the biggest names in military education.

“Pierce College went above and beyond this past year to serve our military-connected students through these trying times,” Haskins continued. “Whether it was through technology loan programs, online science labs, or even greater flexibility in our military-friendly policies, we did our best to keep our students on track to success.”

According to the Military Times, this annual list is the largest and most comprehensive ranking of schools for military service members and veterans, helping them make important decisions about their education. Best for Vets: Colleges 2021 is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that help make colleges and universities a good fit for service members, military veterans and their families.
