The Pierce College Concert Band is a student and community wind ensemble based at Pierce College Puyallup. The band is one of Pierce College's largest performing ensembles. Students attending Pierce College with a major or minor interest in music are encouraged to work with us. The Pierce College Concert Band also has a strong community membership, including musicians with many backgrounds and professions (including professional musicians, students, lawyers, physicians, accountants, teachers, veterinarians, engineers, journalists, nurses, small business owners, military personnel, retirees, and many more).
The Pierce College Concert Band performs selections from a vast repertory of compositions and arrangements for the wind band. Suites, symphonies, marches, theatre music, movie music, orchestral transcriptions, tone poems, songs, ballads, and fanfares will be performed.
The Pierce College Concert Band performs regularly at the end of Pierce College's fall, winter, and spring quarters. As one of the largest wind groups in Pierce County, the Concert Band also performs at community events throughout the South Sound area.
Rehearsals are Tuesday nights (7:30-9:30) at the Arts and Allied Health Building Rehearsal Hall. While the ensemble is open to all student and community musicians who are interested, a short audition may be required at the beginning of each fall quarter to demonstrate ability.
All questions about the band or joining the ensemble can be directed to the group's director, Oscar Thorp (Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music): firstname.lastname@example.org.
