Financial Aid for Study Abroad

Students who qualify for financial aid may use loan or grant awards for study abroad. Awards may be used to pay program fees, tuition, and/or personal expenses.

How to Apply

Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at The FAFSA website and then check ctcLink to see if additional documentation is required to complete your file. You must submit your FAFSA by the application deadlines on the Financial Aid web page.

Find the budget form for the program you are interested in on the WCCCSA program webpage. Meet with the Financial Aid Study Abroad representative to go over the budget sheet and your FAFSA. The Financial Aid Study Abroad representative will be able to see how much funding you qualify for and to provide educational loan options.

The school year begins summer quarter. If you plan to study abroad summer quarter, it is very important to make sure you use the application for the correct school year, and that you meet with a financial aid officer and let them know of your intention to study abroad summer quarter.

We suggest you complete your FAFSA no later than 6 months before you intend to study abroad. The earlier you apply, the more likely you will be able to use your award and/or loans to assist in paying for your Study Abroad program and to meet the payment deadline dates for your Study Abroad program. Study Abroad program fees are due at least 70 days before departure, so start planning early.
