Program Information

Pierce College Adult Diploma (PCAD) program offers curriculum based on the student's credit needs for achieving their goals. Regardless of how long it has been since a student's education was interrupted, students can get back on track, earn college credit, and obtain a Washington State High School Diploma. Courses include social studies, writing, mathematics, reading, history and science. Classes meet 4 times per week Monday-Thursday and are available mornings, afternoons or evenings. Classes are offered at the Fort Steilacoom and Puyallup campuses.

Note: Parts of this program were formerly known as "High School Completion (HSC)"

A Pierce College Adult Diploma (PCAD) requires 20 high school credits, including the completion of Pierce College's required College Success course and an ITRANS college transitional class in English or Math. Graduates from the Pierce College Adult Diploma program will have developed college ready skills.

  • Students who are 18 years or older and whose high school class has graduated can enroll in the program.
  • Students who are 16-18 yrs old can enroll in GED classes with a release from the school district in which they reside.

New students for the PCAD program need to meet with a high school completion advisor to evaluate their transcripts. Transcripts can be unofficial to enter the program, but official high school transcripts must be on file before a high school diploma can be issued. After meeting with the advisor, the student will attend an orientation and be scheduled for state required evaluation. Students are then enrolled in classes based on their skills assessment results.
